Colorado-based ceramicist Callahan Foose (of Callahan Ceramics) crafts handmade mugs, tumblers, planters, and more that celebrate the stunning Pacific Northwest landscape. Each one-of-a-kind piece features dreamy, pastel-colored layers of glaze that depict the region’s mountains, canyons, lakes, and skies, allowing you to hold a reminder of nature in the palm of your hands.
There’s no doubt Foose is talented on the potter’s wheel, but it’s what he does post-firing in the kiln that makes his ceramics stand out. Each piece of pottery looks like a curved, abstract landscape painting, complete with eye-catching gradients that capture Colorado’s mountainscapes and ever-changing skies. Some of his works even feature 3D elements—such as trees and cacti—bringing each nature-inspired scene to life. “The 3D trees add a little extra to these babies, I can’t get enough!” says Callahan on Instagram. “I love that each one is different and when I start I don’t know exactly how it will come out.”
Scroll down to check out some of Foose’s ceramics and buy your own via his online shop. Be quick though—they sell out fast!
